Business In The Fast Lane – Take Five With Scott Nolen

09 August 2019

Scott Nolen is the General Manager of the BHGE Reciprocating Compressor business based in Houston, Texas.

Nolen has spent his entire career working in the energy industry with an even split between the oil & gas and power generation segments. He started his career with Dresser-Rand as an application engineer in 1989 and then moved into a regional management position based in Dubai, UAE, responsible for the Gulf Region. In 2001, he joined Rolls-Royce Energy where he led the Gas Turbine Power Generation Application Engineering team and was the product leader for the Trent 60 Gas Turbine.

He joined GE in 2011 with the purchase of Dresser Waukesha, where he was VP of Power Generation. In March of that year, he relocated to Jenbach, Austria to lead the Power Generation Product Line Management Team for GE’s Gas Engines business. In 2013, Scott relocated to Houston, Texas, to assume the role of Global Technical Solutions Leader for the GE Distributed Power business responsible for a global team of Field Application Engineers. His team worked with customers to develop projects and solutions using the GE Distributed Power portfolio of both gas turbines and gas engines. In 2014, Scott also assumed the role of Commercial Operations leader for the DP Business.

Nolen holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Vermont and a master of Business Administration degree from the University of Rochester. He lives with his wife Sue and son Taylor in Houston.

GE’s announced that it will sell its ownership stake in Baker Hughes – Does that uncertainty present challenges when dealing with customers or potential customers?
