FERC Gives Favorable Environmental Report On Atlantic Coast Pipeline

Dominion Energy Transmission Inc. (DETI) received a favorable environmental impact study from FERC on its proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP). In it’s final environmental impact statement, FERC concluded that, given DETI’s impact mitigation measures, most environmental impacts would be reduced to “less-than-significant levels.”

The ACP totals more than 600 miles (966 km) of total pipeline comprising 333.4 miles (536 km) of 42 in. (1067 mm) and 186.3 (300 km) miles of 36 in. (914 mm) mainline pipeline; 83.4 (134) miles of 20 in. (508 mm) lateral pipeline and 1.4 miles (2.3 km) of 16 in. (406 mm) lateral pipeline. Three new compressor stations totaling more than 130,000 hp (97 MW) are proposed as part of the project.

In addition to the main ACP, Dominion proposed and received a favorable report on the Supply Header Project (SHP), which includes constructing an additional 37.5 miles (60 km) of 30 in. (762 mm) pipeline. The SHP is intended to provide customers access to the Dominion South Point hub in Pennsylvania along with other interconnecting natural gas suppliers.

Four compressor stations in Pennsylvania and West Virginia will be modified to add an additional 69,200 hp (52 MW) as part of the SHP, and DETI has requested to abandon-in-place two existing gathering compressor units at its Hastings Compressor Station in West Virginia.
