MIDSHIP Project Gets FERC Approval

The Midship Pipeline Co. has received certification from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct and operate the Midcontinent Supply Header Interstate Pipeline Project (MIDSHIP Project). The new interstate pipeline system designed to provide up to 1440 MMcf per day of firm transportation capacity from the South Central Oklahoma Oil Province and the Sooner Trend Anadarko Basin Canadian and Kingfisher gas plays in the Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma to existing natural gas pipelines near Bennington, Okla., for subsequent transport to Gulf Coast and Southeast markets.

The MIDSHIP Project will construct an approximately 199.7-mile mainline pipeline in Oklahoma, including compressor stations, metering and regulation (M&R) stations, and appurtenant facilities, and 34.4 miles of lateral pipeline and appurtenant facilities. Specifically, Midship will build:

The MIDSHIP Project mainline will comprise approximately 199.7 miles of 36 in. diameter pipeline beginning at the Okarche Gas Processing Plant near Okarche, Okla., and ending at interconnects with existing interstate natural gas pipelines near the town of Bennington, Oklahoma. The mainline will be rated for a Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) of up to 1480 psig.

The system will also include three mainline compressor stations. The Calumet Compressor Station will be located in Canadian County, Okla. It will be ISO-rated for 28,160 hp and will include two 6130 hp Solar Centaur 50 gas-fired turbines, one Solar Mars 100 gas-fired turbine rated 15,900 hp and two gas-fired Caterpillar G3512 emergency generators.

The Tatums Compressor Station will be located in Garvin County, Okla., and will be ISO rated for 44,230 hp. The station will include two 10,915 hp Solar Taurus 70 gas turbines, one 22,400 hp Solar Titan 130 turbine and two Caterpillar G3512 backup gen-sets.

The Bennington Compressor Station will be located in Bryan County, Okla., and will be ISO rated for 42,260 hp with two 6130 hp Solar Centaur 50 turbines, one 30,000 Solar Titan 250 gas turbine and two Caterpillar G3512 emergency gen-sets.

Along with the compressor stations, the MIDSHIP Project will also include four new booster stations, eight receipt meters, two receipt taps, four delivery meters and appurtenant facilities in Kingfisher, Canadian, Grady, Garvin, Stephens, Carter, Johnston and Bryan counties.

Of the project’s 1440 MMcf total design capacity, 925 MMcf (approximately 64%) is subscribed by four shippers — Marathon Oil Co., Gulfport Energy Co. and Devon Gas Services, L.P. — under precedent agreements. The remaining 75 MMcf per day is subscribed by Corpus Christi Liquefaction, an affiliated entity.
